Sony PlaystationFrom Emu BombThe PlayStation (often abbreviated PS or PSone) is a 32-bit video game console of the fifth generation that was first released by Sony Computer Entertainment in December 1994. The PlayStation was the first of the ubiquitous PlayStation series of console and hand-held game devices, which has included successor consoles and upgrades including the Net Yaroze (a special black PS with tools and instructions to program PS games and applications), PS one (a smaller version of the original), PocketStation (a handheld which enhances PS games and acts as a memory card), PlayStation 2, a revised, slimline PS2, PlayStation Portable (a handheld gaming console), PSX (Japan only; a media center, DVR and DVD recorder based on the PS2), and PlayStation 3. By March 31, 2005, the PlayStation and PS one had shipped a combined total of 102.49 million units, becoming the first video game console to reach the 100 million mark.

Guides:
Description: ePSXe is an excellent plugin based emulator. It runs most playstation files well, and runs relatively fast. Development of ePSXe stopped in 2003, it is thought that the makers lost the source code to a hard drive failure. Some further development continues in the form of plugins. A Detailed FAQ is available here This version comes with DLL fix, recommended BIOS and all common plugins Website: PCSX Home Page
Description: A very good PSX emulator that has very little config. Website: www.psxemulator.gazaxian.com
Description: The psX emulator doesn't use any plug-ins because the configuration is already good. It requires a user-provided PlayStation BIOS dump to work. Little worry over graphics card compatibility because the graphics are mainly software rendered. Image quality may not be good as other psX emulators that have plug-in support. Support for the classic PlayStation controller, the DualShock controller also support for the Namco GunCon peripheral by mouse (Windows version only) Minimum system requirements are 600 mhz (750 for Win Xp) and 128 mb ram. Recommended requirements are 1.3 ghz and 256 mb ram. Requires DirectX9 for best graphics for windows and OpenGL for Linux. Requires DirectX sound for windows and ALSA for Linux. Also requires CD-Player with fast reading. The psX emulator is still to get better so keep an eye out for this emulator. |
